Prep football -- ND hangs on at Topsail

HAMPSTEAD -- North Duplin freshman Doug Lloyd rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns Friday night at Topsail as the Rebels picked up their first win of 2004 in a 12-8 win against the Pirates.
Lloyd threw for 39 more as the Rebels picked up 263 yards of offense.
North Duplin (1-1) battled Topsail through the fourth quarter without giving up a point, then sealed the game as Lloyd took a knee in the end zone for a two-point safety with 10 seconds left in the game.
Each team lost three fumbles, while North Duplin grabbed one interception.
Topsail dropped to 0-3 on the season.
Montreal Garner had 86 yards rushing for the Rebels, who play county rival James Kenan on Friday.
