Tennis -- Gators cruise past Ayden-Grifton

LITTLEFIELD -- Reigning Carolina 1-A Conference champion Spring Creek swept the singles en route to an 8-1 victory against Ayden-Grifton in Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference action Thursday afternoon.
Stacy Smith, the two-time defending Carolina singles champion, blanked Laura Steinlein 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot. Teammates Sarah Warren, Sarah Bragg and Kelly Murphy also prevailed in singles.
Cynthia Breault-Kaitlyn Murphy triumphed at No. 1 doubles.
The Chargers defaulted Nos. 5 and 6 singles, and No. 3 doubles.
Spring Creek (4-0, 3-0 C/EPC) entertains North Lenoir next Tuesday.
