DUDLEY -- Visiting Laney capitalized on a first-period punt miscue 17 less than one minute into the game and cruised past Southern Wayne at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.
Michael Allen led the Saints' offense with 51 yards on 16 carries, while Dontae Ashford contributed 22 yards on three attempts.
Thomas Olliver led Southern Wayne's defense with seven solo tackles and several assists. Michael Allen chipped in with a number of assists.
Andre Williams and Dontia Herring each sacked the Laney quarterback once.
Southern Wayne (0-1) travels to Wilmington Hoggard next Thursday.
