Eastern Wayne fought hard against Class 4-A opponent New Bern in a 5-4 loss to the Bears on Wednesday at the Wayne Community College courts.
The match was decided at the number one doubles spot as the Warriors' Anna Weeks and Brandi Butts trailed 4-1, but came back to force a tie-breaker. Eventually, New Bern's Ellen Bell and Gentry Lasater claimed the match 7-5 (8-7).

Weeks, Butts and Sammi Abrahamson all won singles matches for the Warriors, who faces Goldsboro in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play on Friday.
