Prep Cross-Country -- EW's Collins claims first

WILSON -- Eastern Wayne's Will Collins claimed first-place honors and paced three Warrior boys in the top five as Eastern Wayne claimed a win in a four-team meet at Wilson Hunt on Monday.
Collins ran a 17:38, while teammates Matt Interrante (17:40) and Michael Lawrence (18:26) claimed second and fifth, respectively. The Warriors picked up 32 team points, edging Northern Nash (34). Rocky Mount (75) claimed third, while Hunt took fourth with 81 points.
In the girls meet, Eastern Wayne's Leslie Lewis turned in a fourth-place finish by running a 22:47 as the Warriors finished second to Wilson Hunt, who had 45 team points. Eastern Wayne had 52 points as Northern Nash (56) and Rocky Mount (63) rounded out the team scoring.
The Warriors' Brittany Ham finished ninth and April Vinson took 10th.
Eastern Wayne's next meet is at New Bern on Thursday.
