Tennis -- North Lenoir cruises past Farmville Central

FARMVILLE -- North Lenoir dominated singles play and cruised past Farmville Central 9-0 in a Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Eastern Plains Conference match Thursday afternoon.
Mary-Linton Smith, Debbie Vandiford and Rachel Sasser each collected a 6-0, 6-0 win against their respective opponents. Morgan Worthington, the Hawks' top seed, lost just one game.
Ruthanne Hardy and Heather Phillips each dropped two games.
Worthington-Smith triumphed at No. 1 doubles. Madison Gray teammed with Ashley Fillipeli and claimed a victory at No. 2, while the tandem of Jordan Hoffman-Kristen Penuel prevailed at No. 3.
North Lenoir (1-1, 1-1 C/EPC) travels to county foe Kinston this afternoon and is the guest of Wilson Beddingfield next Monday.
