The 6th annual Goldsboro Builders/Clarence Rose Junior Golf Classic will tee off Monday morning at 8 o'clock at Walnut Creek Country Club.

This year's field consists of approximately 110 players from the Carolinas, with many Wayne County schools being well represented.

The tournament is a two-day event, open to junior golfers of all skill level ages 8 to 18. The 8-11 year-olds will play nine holes each day, with the 12-18 year-olds playing 18. For scoring purposes, both the boys and girls' events are broken down into four age divisions.

After play on Monday, Clarence Rose will put on an instruction clinic at 6:45 p.m., with driving and putting contests for the players at 7:15.

Play resumes at 8 a.m. Tuesday. An awards presentation will follow.

David Perry, president of Goldsboro Builders, directs the tournament and does a great deal of the organizing as well. The tournament remains popular for both local youth golfers in Wayne County, as well as being a popular event on the Carolinas Golf Association schedule for top players regional players.
