Errors plague Snow Hill against Pitt Post 39

GREENVILLE -- Two critical errors by Snow Hill paved the way for a four-run seventh inning by Pitt County Post 39 as Post 94 fell 7-9 Sunday in an important American Legion game at Guy Smith Stadium.

Pitt County opened the game with a four-run first inning on a pair of two-run home runs by Jason Carlyle and Brian Graple. Snow Hill fought back to get within 5-3 when the fateful four-run seventh inning gave Pitt County another cushion.

Snow Hill got the tying run to the plate in the ninth before Alex White shut the door and preserved the win for Post 39.

Blake Herring took the loss in relief of Snow Hill starter Chip Wall. Brian Hill got the win for Pitt County after relieving starter Aubrey Edens. White notched the save.,

Snow Hill (6-7, 2-2) takes on Fuquay-Varina tonight at the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex.

Aycock outpaces

Tri-County East

PIKEVILLE -- Jackson Massey and Jay Rose combined to limit Tri-County east as Aycock topped their visitors 11-6 Sunday.

Bennett Jeffreys went 2-for-4 and doubled to place Aycock's hitting. Will Spence was also 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Brandon Edgerton and Thomas Pilkington both rapped doubles. Aycock knocked out 12 hits in the game.

Aycock (11-3, 5-3) plays again tonight at West Craven and Tuesday at home to Rocky Mount.

Snow Hill

erupts on Wilson

SNOW HILL -- Drew Sowers struck out four and gave up just two earned runs as Snow Hill belted Wilson 12-2 on Sunday.

Richie Turner and a run-scoring triple and went 2-for-4 for Snow Hill, while Hunter Chase was 2-for-4 and Spencer Albritton had a pair of hits and two RBI.

Snow Hill (8-6, 4-2) plays at home Tuesday against Tri-County.
