MOUNT OLIVE -- A much-needed timely hit turned momentum into Snow Hill Post 94's favor and sparked a come-from-behind 5-3 victory against Duplin County Post 127 on Saturday afternoon at Mount Olive College.

Snow Hill appeared headed for today's seventh-place game in the inaugural Wayne County Post 11 American Legion Baseball Invitational, but Jordan Scott changed his team's fortune. Scott ripped a two-RBI double into the right center field gap in the fourth inning to forge a 3-3 tie.

"Our kids played good yesterday. We just couldn't get a hit at any time really when we needed it," veteran Post 94 coach James "Rabbit" Fulghum said. "Today, we got a big hit to put us back in the game. You need something to pick you up every once in a while.

"The momentum changed."

Scott's multiple-run hit and a key fifth-inning defensive play energized Snow Hill.

Blake King started the Duplin County fifth by reaching safely on an error. King moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt and stayed there when Cal Parker took first on a catcher's interference call. Fulghum replaced starting pitcher Jordy Grady with Blake Taylor, who fell behind 3-2 in the count against Taylor Bullard -- the No. 9 batter in Post 127's lineup.
