Area roundup -- Snow Hill Legion splits twinbill

ROCKY MOUNT -- The Snow Hill Legion baseball team provided plenty of offense in game one of a double-header on Monday at Rocky Mount, taking game one 11-7 before falling in game two 10-1.

Post 94's Matthew Tyndall led the offensive surge in the season opener with a four-hit, three-RBI performance with two home runs. Blake Taylor added a double, a home run and two RBI, while Jon Conway provided two hits.

Game one stood tied at 7-7 after seven innings before Snow Hill posted four runs in the final two.

Jordy Davis picked up the win in relief for Post 94. Blake Taylor got the start, while Jared Williamson also worked in relief.

Thomas Evans had two hits and three RBI for Rocky Mount.

Snow Hill's Joe Wade provided a home run in the top of the fourth and proved to be the lone offensive standout in game two as Rocky Mount's Jeffrey Matthews had seven strikeouts against one walk in a complete-game effort.

Post 58's Billy Coultruda, Ted Williams and Will Johnson all had two hits each in game two. Williams homered, while Johnson drove in two runs.

Travis Rouse picked up the loss for Snow Hill. Jordy Grady started game two and Chip Wall entered in late-inning relief.

Post 94 (1-1) returns to action on Wednesday at Beaufort County. Today's scheduled tilt with Martin County has been moved to June 23.

Snow Hill wins

WILSON -- Snow Hill's Tyler Chase, who finished with a three-hit, three-RBI performance, drove in Hunter Chase in the top of the seventh as the Post 94 Junior Legion team defeated Wilson 14-13 on Monday.

Hunter Chase and Craven Taylor had two hits and three RBI each, while Dreyan Willis had two hits and two RBI. Trey Beamon added two hits.

Cory Skinner got the win in 12Ú3 innings of relief work.

Snow Hill (2-0) travels to Pitt County West tonight at 7 p.m.

Hole in one

Tommy King recorded his first-ever hole in one on May 25 while playing at Walnut Creek Country Club. King aced the par-3 ninth hole, measuring 161 yards, with The Perfect Club. Michael Hatem and Daniel Kleinert Jr. witnessed the ace. King has been playing golf for four years.

For the week ending May 30, Donna Adams won low net, while the game of the week winners were Lou Ellen Flowers and Teresa Shearin. Linda Watson won low putts.

Aycock 9, Wilson Hunt 0 -- Joey Burridge and Billy McKinley had two hits each for Aycock (1-2). Josh Narron, Billy McKinley and David Stevens combined on a one-hitter. Hunt's Brock Griffin picked up the only hit for Hunt (0-1).
