KINSTON -- The Winston-Salem Warthogs continued a trend from last weekend, socking two home runs off Indians starter J.D. Martin and hanging on for a 6-2 win Thursday night before 1,362 fans at Grainger Stadium.

Starter Nik Lubisich was dominant for eight-plus innings as Winston-Salem improved to 21-25, while Kinston dropped to 31-14 and has lost consecutive games at home for the first time this season.

Lubisich improved to 3-2, allowing two runs on just four hits in 8.0 innings. Martin fell to 4-4 with the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out four but also walked four.

Jonathan Van Every, who was mired in a 3-for-28 slump coming in, led the offense by going 2-4 with an RBI.

Game two in the four-game series is slated for 7 p.m. tonight and will be followed by the Boy Scout campout as the Indians continue a 10-game homestand.
