SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Amber Oakes had two hits for the Rams, who fell 5-4 to SouthWest Edgecombe in 11 innings on Tuesday.
Brittany Leggett got the loss in relief for Greene Central (4-16, 2-6 Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference), striking out five and giving up just one run in four innings of work in relief of starter Cassie Webb.
Stephanie Payne pitched all 11 innings for SouthWest Edgecombe and had 14 strikeouts against three walks.
Greene Central takes on Farmville Central in a double-header on Thursday before facing Tarboro at home on Friday.
