CALYPSO -- North Duplin erased three different deficits at home against Holly Ridge Dixon, eventually rallying for a eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to claim a 10-8 win.

The victory improves the Rebels to 3-11 on the season as they return to Class 1-A Carolina Conference action April 20 at Spring Creek.

North Duplin's Daniel Howell had a stout effort from the clean-up spot, drilling two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Howell slugged a home run in the first inning, but it was called back when the umpires ruled that Howell missed first base.

Sterling Grice added two hits, while Jason Marquez doubled, drove in a run and scored three times. Matt Braswell stole two bases and scored twice.

Rock Bennett picked up the win in relief for the Rebels with one shutout inning of work. Brad Lloyd got the save.

The two teams combined for 10 errors.

"It was nice to get this win, but we still are not where I think we should be. Our pitchers have done great jobs all year and we're still shooting ourselves in the foot with errors," North Duplin coach Rob Futch said. "If it weren't for the errors in the field we'd probably be sitting with a .500 record or better.

"We've got the monkey from last year off our backs. Now we can try to move forward and get a few conference wins."
