JV softball -- Saints earn split for week

DUDLEY -- Visiting D.H. Conley scored six runs in the first two innings and cruised past Southern Wayne 11-0 in a non-conference battle Wednesday evening.
Whitli Thornton, Kristen Moody and Ashley Clemens each had a single for the Saints.
Thornton took the pitching loss.
On Tuesday, Southern Wayne climbed to 3-1 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play with a 5-4 victory against West Craven.
Thornton paced the Saints' offense with two hits, while Katie Savage added a single and an RBI. Angela Luna also singled.
Thornton claimed the pitching win, striking out 11 and scattering four hits in a complete-game effort.
The Saints are 3-4 overall.
