Track -- GC girls unbeaten in EPC

PINETOPS -- Olisa Thaggard claimed a pair of first-place finishes in the field events and participated on two winning relay teams as Greene Central slipped past SouthWest Edgecombe 63-60 in an Eastern Plains 2-A track meet Wednesday afternoon.
South Lenoir was third with 42 points.
The Rams remained unbeaten in nine meetings, including four against EPC opposition. They are scheduled to run again April 20 at home against South Lenoir and Tarboro.
Thaggard recorded a mark of 33 feet, 10 inches in the triple jump. She continued her season-long dominance in the long jump with a mark of 15-5.
Sierra Bryant claimed first in the 100 high hurdles (18.34 seconds), while Shontay Dodd ran past her competitors in the 200 with a time of 26.74.
Bryant, Dodd, Thaggard and Alicia Best comprised the winning 400 relay. Best, Thaggard, Dodd and Teketia May prevailed in the 800 relay with a time of 1:52.06.
