PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Phillip Cunningham started the bottom of the first with a lead-off home run as the Golden Falcons' snapped a four-game losing streak with a 12-2 win at home against Washington in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Cunningham, who was moved from the middle of the order into the lead-off spot, was one of four Aycock players with at least two RBI in the win. Nik Pappas, Josh Pate and Will Spence each knocked in two runs, also.

"We've gone through two weeks where we didn't hit with runners on base, and I think Cunningham set the tone from the start with the home run," Aycock coach Charles Davis said. "Hitting is contagious and hopefully this will get us back on the right track."

Bennett Jeffreys delivered three hits for the Golden Falcons (6-4, 4-3 ECC), while Matthew Waddell added two hits and an RBI. Greg Davis drilled a solo home run for Aycock, who hosts Goldsboro at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Cunningham picked up the win on the mound, tossing five innings, striking out seven against two walks while giving up two runs.

Washington (3-6) fell to 2-5 in the conference.
