Track -- Rams boys 2nd, girls prevail

SNOW HILL -- Three Johnsons each picked up an individual win Thursday afternoon, but it wasn't enough for Greene Central's boys track team.

Visiting SouthWest Edgecombe had three double winners and nipped the Rams 78-73 on the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference action. North Pitt took third with 26 points.

Tyvonne Johnson won the 100 in 10.68 seconds. Rontae Johnson prevailed in the shot put (39-8 1/4), while Eric Johnson took the 200 in 23.47.

SouthWest's Antwun Cotton captured the triple and long jumps. O.L. Pullen won the two hurdles races.

Greene Central, the reigning EPC champion, fell to 6-2.

Meanwhile, the Lady Rams continued their season-long dominance but got a test from the Cougars. Olisa Thaggard, Torre Parks and Deandra Tyson each won two events as Greene Central stopped SouthWest 78-64.

North Pitt was third with 24.

Thaggard won the triple and long jumps while Parks took the two hurdles events. Tyson won the 800-meter run and tied for first in the high jump.

The Rams (8-0) visit SouthWest next Tuesday afternoon.
