Tennis -- Gators blank NP

BETHEL -- Spring Creek lost a total of six games, four in singles and two in doubles, en route to a 9-0 decision against North Pitt in Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference play Thursday.
Top-seeded Will Daniel and third-seeded Grey Wilson each recorded a shutout. Cliff Wilson, Ricky Galloway and Justin Smith each dropped a game in the opening set. Teammate Daniel Watson lost one game in the second set against Donald Redmond.
Spring Creek posted two shutouts in doubles. The third-seeded tandem of Brandon Strickland-Frederick Ellis, each a freshman, knocked off Redmond-Magale Harris 8-2. Redmond-Harris won the first meeting.
"I was tickled to death with their play," Gators coach Robert Jones said of Strickland-Ellis.
The Gators (9-1, 8-1 C/EPC) entertain Ayden-Grifton next Monday afternoon.
