Jennifer Boren slapped a home run and collected five RBI as Rosewood cruised past North Duplin 8-1 in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference battle Thursday afternoon.

Boren just missed hitting for the cycle with a single, triple and home run in four at-bats.

"Jennifer had a great day at the plate," Rosewood coach Jennifer Cochran said.

Freshman Chandra Meadows threw her first complete game of the season. The right-hander scattered four hits to go along with five strikeouts and no walks.

"She did an excellent job," Cochran said.

Julie Ivey, Rhonda Jordan, Erica Lane and Brittany Carr each had a hit for the Rebels. Jordan drove in the lone run.

Carr suffered the pitching loss.

"We're more aggressive offensively, but Rosewood really hit the ball well," North Duplin coach Heather Best said. "It's hard to defend a home run over your head. We're improving every game and becoming a closer team.

"After Spring Break, we start over in the conference. We've seen all the teams and look forward to playing them again."

Rosewood (4-8, 2-3) entertains Princeton next Tuesday afternoon.
