VANCEBORO -- Eastern Wayne's Natalie Taylor tallied a hat-trick (three goals) as the Warriors rolled to a 7-0 road win at West Craven on Wednesday.

The win improves the Warriors (3-4 overall) to 3-2 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference heading into a key conference and rivalry match-up on April 5 at Charles B. Aycock at 5 p.m.

First-year varsity program West Craven (0-7 overall) dropped to 0-5 in conference play.

Samantha Frazer and Helen Baddour pushed Eastern Wayne to a 2-0 advantage at the half with a one goal each.

Taylor then tallied three goals in the second half, including a drive past three Eagle defenders with a goal into the upper left corner at the 74 minute mark.

Baddour added a goal in the second half, while Frazer assisted on Taylor's first goal.

The Warriors outshot the Eagles 27-0.

Eastern Wayne coach Jorg Wager applauded the efforts of midfielders Katy Biehl and Jessica Pate, while noting a strong performance by Carol Reinier defensively.

Despite the goal difference, Wagner doesn't feel like his team played its best game.

"Although every conference win is important, I was not overly impressed with our performance tonight," he said. "We looked unorganized. All but two of our goals came out of patchwork, and we were unable to sustain any meaningful ball possession."
