The Wayne County Men's Amateur Tournament committee has announced that applications for this year's tournament will be available starting April 5. Applications may be picked up at First Tee Golf Shop and all local golf courses, or by logging on to wcmagolf.com. Applications for both the WCMA and the Wayne County Junior Amateur are available.
The WCMA is a three day, 54-hole stroke play event with flights determined after the second day's play. The event is open to amateur golfers age 18 and older who are members of a golf course or club in Wayne County or who are legal residents of Wayne County. The tournament field will be limited to the first 150 eligible entrants.
The Wayne County Junior Amateur will be held June 2 at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course.
The Wayne County Men's Amateur Tournament will be held June 4-6. The opening day's round will be held at Walnut Creek Country Club, with the second round at Southern Wayne Country Club and the final round at Lane Tree Golf Course.
This year, a rules clinic will be held at Herman Park Center Wednesday, May 26. The clinic is free and several area golf professionals will be on hand to discuss commonly violated rules of golf. The WCMA Tournament committee is encouraging all participants in both tournaments to attend this rules clinic.
The Wayne County Men's Amateur has again secured the sponsorship of Andy's Cheesesteaks and Cheesburgers as the title sponsor. Corporate sponsors Coca-Cola and the Family YMCA are also returning.
