Chargers win Carolina 1-A meet

FARMVILLE -- Ayden-Grifton's Adam Andrews fired a 36 to take medalist honors at Farmville Country Club on Monday in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference match.

Paced by Andrew's 36 and David Robinson's 37, the Chargers won the match with a team score of 151.

Rosewood, led by Blake Blanton (38) and Shane Ogburn (41) finished second with a 164. Spring Creek's Billy Ham shot a 40, while Stephen Warren added a 41 to pace the Gators third-place finish at 168.

Princeton's Addison Gainey notched a 39 as teammate Scott Woodard notched a 41 for the Bulldogs (174). North Johnston (176) finished fifth led by Dustin Philyaw's 41 and Cameron Edwards' 43.

Farmville Central (182) and North Duplin (198) rounded out the team scoring. Grayson Morgan (48) and Josh Bell (49) led the Rebels.

Ayden Grifton currently leads the conference race with Spring Creek and Rosewood in second and third, respectively.

The next Carolina Conference match is April 5 at the Cardinal.

Hawks edge Greene Central

GREENVILLE -- South Lenoir's Austin Hardison turned in medalist honors with a 74, while North Lenoir edged Greene Central in team scoring at a Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference match at Bradford Creek Country Club on Monday.

The Hawks finished with a team score of 318, followed closely by the Rams with 319. SouthWest Edgecombe finished third with a 330, and the Blue Devils took fourth at 341. Tarboro (348) and host North Pitt (392) rounded out the team scoring.

Greene Central was led by Colby Murphy and Daniel Creech, who both fired 76. Clark Flowers added an 82 for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Thursday to take on Ayden-Grifton at the Ayden Country Club.
