Wayne Country Day's baseball team out-hit Greenfield School on Monday, but fell 6-4 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play at the Eastern Carolina Athletic Park.

The Chargers' Shivar Person, who had three hits, and Kevin Logan, who added two hits, drove in two runs each. Still, Wayne Country Day stranded 11 base runners in the loss, while their opponents left just four on base.

Travis Davis and Sam Steed added two hits each for the Chargers (1-4 overall), who fell to 0-3 in CPIC play.

Eighth-grader Ryan Ford picked up the loss for Wayne Country Day, pitching seven innings and yielding just three earned runs and walking just two.

Austin Bass got the win for the Knights with a 10-strikeout performance.

The Chargers look to rebound on Thursday at Hobgood in non-conference action.

Rams claim

non-conference win

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Dreyon Willis had two hits and an RBI to lead the Rams in an 8-3 win over South Central at home on Saturday.

Josh Elmore picked up the win in five innings of work for the Rams (5-5), who host South Central on Wednesday.

Middle School baseball

Rosewood 14, Brogden 11 -- Cody Richards picked up the win for Rosewood, striking out five and yielding two hits. Robert Franks had three hits, while Holt Rains, Eric Jones, Trevor Worrell had two hits each for the Eagles (9-1, 3-1 Division II), who host Brogden on Wednesday.

Eastern Wayne 24, Goldsboro 0 -- Eastern Wayne's Jeff Hill had two hits, while Walker Gourley, John Wooten and Anthony Otellio had two hits each to pace the Warrior offense. Eastern Wayne (6-3, 2-2 Division II) hosts Norwayne on Thursday, while Goldsboro hosts Grantham.

Norwayne 32, Greenwood 0 -- Norwayne's Will Edgerton, Zach Wright and Jackson Wooten had three hits. Jay Rose, Steven Strouse and Joey Parchman had two hits each. Bryant Hill and Jessie Randolph combined for a no-hitter. Edgerton, Wright and Strouse had two hits each in a 13-0 win over Brogden on March 25. The Cobras (11-0, 6-0 Division II) travel to Eastern Wayne on Thursday.

Frink 17, Savannah 1 -- Frink's John Alphin had two hits and scored four runs, while Cory Johnson had two hits and three runs and Bryce Grady had two hits and two RBI. Kaleb Wessell tossed a no-hitter, striking out eight as the Cavaliers remained unbeaten. Frink visits Rochelle on Thursday

Rosewood 16, Fremont 6 -- Cody Harris and Will Beasley combined on a five-hitter for Rosewood. Steven Bostic (3-for-4), Will Grantham (3-for-4), Matt Neal (3-for-5, 3B) Trevor Cox (2-for-4, 2B) and Harris (2-for-3) lead Rosewood's offense.

Middle School softball

Frink 19, Savannah 3 -- Frink's Traci Davis picked up the win, while Nichole Howard and Kaitlyn Wessell had three hits each for Frink, who visits Rochelle on Thursday.
