SMITHFIELD -- Michelle Fisher and Candice Evans combined for a three-hitter as North Johnston shut out county rival Smithfield-Selma 9-0 on Thursday evening.

It was the Panthers' seventh consecutive shutout.

Fisher allowed just two hits and worked out of a jam in the first inning with Spartan runners on second and third. Janna Rogerson recovered a bunt attempt and threw out a runner at the plate, and the next batter lined out to Fisher to end the threat.

Evans had runners on second and third in the fourth, but used a strikeout and groundout to end the inning.

Fisher, Rogerson, Hannah Ellis, Robyn Creech and Ashley Woodall each had two hits for the Panthers. Woodall, a Pitt Community College signee, drove in four runs.

Ellis and Creech each contributed a double.

North Johnston collected a season-high 15 hits en route to its eighth win in nine tries. The Panthers entertain county and Class 1-A Carolina Conference rival Princeton at 7 p.m. today.
