Soccer -- Best gets another hat trick

FAYETTEVILLE -- Virginia Best recorded her second consecutive hat trick (three goals) as Wayne Country Day overpowered Northwood Temple 6-0 in non-conference play Tuesday.
Best also dished out two assists for the Chargers, who improved to 2-1 overall. Christin Grubb provided two goals and two assists. Sarah Coleman added a single goal.
Goalkeepers Ellen Elmore and Amanda Benton combined for five saves.
Wayne Country Day entertains Flora MacDonald at 4 p.m. today. The Chargers are ranked No. 3 in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A poll, while the Cougars are ranked fifth.
