KINSTON -- Samantha Frazer and Natalie Taylor each recorded the hat trick (three goals) as Eastern Wayne throttled Kinston 6-0 in a Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference match Wednesday.
Frazer notched the eventual game-winning goal in the 11th minute, finishing a shot in the low left corner of the net against Vikings keeper Abby Irvin.
Frazer added goals in the 50th and 66th minutes. Jessica Pate assisted Frazer's second mark which came off an indirect free kick. Taylor beat her defender, laid the ball across the goal mouth and Frazer tapped it in for the hat trick.
Taylor's goals occurred in the 14th, 27th and 68th minutes. Taylor beat Kinston's last defender into the box and fired a strike to the upper right corner. Frazer assisted on Taylor's third goal.
"Six goals on 24 shots make for a solid scoring percentage and our 'young guns' (Frazer, Taylor) came out blazing today," Eastern Wayne coach Jorg Wagner said. "(The hat trick and assist) should give them some confidence for the tougher part of the schedule beginning with Washington next week.
"However, our transitional game and defensive organization are not up to par yet. We gave up quite a few opportunities to Kinston."
Warriors keeper Ashley Lish collected 11 saves and earned her second straight shutout in goal.
Eastern Wayne (2-2, 2-0 ECC) entertains Washington next Monday at 7 p.m.
