SMITHFIELD -- North Johnston's Jenna Gudac posted a hat-trick (three goals) as the Panthers cruised past rival South Johnston 4-1 in the play-in game of the Smithfield News Herald Cup at SSS.
The win sends North Johnston into a first-round game against Clayton today at 7 p.m., also at SSS.
Stephanie Jones added a goal for North Johnston, while Martha Godwin dished out two assists and Christy Johnson added another assist.
North Johnston outshot the Trojans 17-7. Allison Hinnant had four saves in the goal.
