WILSON — Charles B. Aycock’s Brandon Howard claimed the Golden Falcons first win over Wilson Fike at number two singles as Aycock went on to a 6-3 win at Wilson Fike on Wednesday.
Aycock (2-0) got singles wins from Sean Kelly (number three), David Williams (number five) and Dustin Burnette (number six).
Danny Fairchild and Howard teamed to win at number one singles, 8-5 over Fike’s Jacob Montague and Nick Wagner, while Aycock’s Williams and John Ball closed out the win at number three singles over Michael Arnette and Matt Fleck.
“We played really well on the big points,” Aycock coach Luke Vail said. “It was an excellent way to open the season.”
The Falcons entertain Southern Wayne next Tuesday in Pikeville.

Rams rout Rocky Mount
SNOW HILL — Greene Central’s Andrew Hulbert got the Rams out to a good start with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Rocky Mount’s Alec Brinn as Greene Central rolled to a 9-0 win at home against Rocky Mount.
The Rams also got singles wins from Brent Darden, Lin Hall, Christopher Hardy, Dustin Grant and Brian Sugg. Hulbert and Darden, Hall and Hardy and Grant and Sugg teamed to win their respective doubles matches over the Gryphons.
Greene Central (2-0) plays at home today against Tarboro.
