Nine Eastern Wayne swimmers and one swimmer from Charles B. Aycock advanced to the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A swimming championships Friday after strong performances at last week's regional meet in Hillsborough.

Three Warrior relay teams -- the girl's 200 medley (Hina New, Denise Moulas, Ashley Robinson and Stefanie Hallock) and the 400 freestyle (Rachael Stoneburner, Hallock, New and Robinson) -- qualified for the state meet after finishing ninth in the 200 and fifth in the 400. The boys' 400 free team (Rob Cagle, Garrett Turknett, Michael Hallock and Billy Reed) qualified also with a 13th-place finish.

In addition, nearly all the realy swimmers will be in two indiviual events. New will swim the girls 200 free and the 100 butterfly; Robsinon the girls 200 IM and girls 500 free (she has top 10 seedings in both events); Michael Hallock the boys 200 intermediate medley and the boys 500 free; and Reed the boys 50 free and the girls 100 free. Reed also has top 10 seedings in both his events.

Aycock's Garrett Forest will swim in the girls 50 free and 100 free, and is seeded in the top 10 for both races.
