WASHINGTON -- Eastern Wayne's Jessy Perkins led all scorers with 18 points as the Warriors took a 58-48 win over Washington on Tuesday on the road.

The win pulled Eastern Wayne's record to an even 5-5 in the ECC.

Sierra King contributed 11 points for the Warriors (6-9 overall).

"Everybody played well and we got a tough road win," Eastern Wayne coach Brent Holland said.

Meredith Knox paced Washington with 14 points.

The Lady Warriors return home on Friday against West Carteret.

Hawks roll past

North Pitt

BETHEL -- North Lenoir's girls (15-1, 3-0) kept the defensive press on all night long, forcing 44 turnovers as they rolled to a 79-56 victory.

North Pitt led only a 2-0, then watched the Hawks run off the next nine points. During the third period, the lead reached as many as 34, at 59-25.

Shannon Plymouth led North Lenoir with 23 points while Shanita Fulford had 14 to pace North Pitt (4-10, 0-3).

Falcons soar

from behind

WINTERVILLE -- Megan Vanderhorst scored a career-high 25 points Tuesday night, including 14 in a come-from-behind fourth quarter, to propel the South Central girls basketball team to a 42-38 win over Southern Wayne.

Tiffany Swinson scored eight points for the Saints (3-12, 3-7 ECC 3-A).

Down 29-22 heading into the final period, the Falcons stormed back to outscore the Saints 20-9 down the stretch. They held Southern Wayne without a field goal in the final quarter.

"We just didn't finish the basketball game," Southern Wayne coach Richard Proctor said. "We've got to be able to get a key rebound and get somebody to step up and make some plays."

Southern Wayne takes on Aycock on Friday, while the Falcons (10-6, 4-5 ECC) will host Kinston on Thursday.

NEWTON GROVE -- North Duplin's Sierra Ward scored 21 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the Rebels to a 50-46 win.

Lauren Blackmore added 12 points, while Marlyn Ball contributed 14 rebounds and Bethany Malcolm pulled down eight rebounds.

Ball and Malcolm had eight points each for North Duplin (3-8), who travels to take on Spring Creek on Friday.

Hill leads

Rosewood over rivals

Rosewood's Courtney Hill scored 18 points to pace the Eagles in a 44-23 win over Princeton on Wednesday.

Kasey Grey added 14 points, while Kelly Gurley contributed 11 points.

Princeton was paced by Brittany Rose with eight points.

The Eagles (5-3) travel to North Johnston on Wednesday.
