Joyce Smith Hare, 80, of Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hare was born in Wayne County June 15, 1937, to the late Jim Berry and Exie Wells Smith. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Mackvick and husband, Jeff, of Clayton; two brothers, James Smith and wife, Mariam, of Winston-Salem and Shelton Smith and wife, Linda, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ariel DiDonato (Mark), Leah Scheib (Frank Worthington), William Mackvick (Melissa) and Cody Mackvick (Kara); and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Isabella and James.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hare was preceded in death by her husband, Jethro “June” Hare Jr. and a brother, Billy Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
