HECTOR M. MIRANDA SR.

Hector M. Miranda Sr., 92, went to his eternal rest Tuesday, April 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Carmen M. (Vega) Miranda, his wife of 70 years.
Hector was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Francisco and Maria (Ocasio) Miranda.
Hector was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown, was retired from the United States Air Force, where he received the Bronze Star during the Vietnam War, and was an avid baseball fan, especially the New York Yankees.
In addition to his wife, Carmen, Hector is survived by his children, Ivonne A. Gabrielson and her husband, Charles, of Abbottstown, Hector M. Miranda Jr., and his wife, Lillian, of Westley Chapel, Fla., and Maria del Carmen Miranda of East Berlin; three grandchildren, Chad Gabrielson, Maribel Davis and Anthony Miranda; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal Road, Abbottstown, with the Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
