SHIRLEY CASHWELL WELLS

Shirley Cashwell Wells, 79, Calypso, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Feb. 11, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
She was born in Garner, N.C., the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruby Cashwell.
She was the loving wife of the late Everette D. "Shorty" Wells Sr.; mother to three boys; a grandmother; great-grandmother; aunt; sister; and friend.
Shirley taught art for many years in the public school system in Sampson and Wayne counties.
She was well known for her talented artistic abilities and the many beautiful pieces she painted for so many.
Her retirement years she spent traveling and enjoying her time with family and friends.
She is lovingly survived by her three sons and their wives, Everette and Diana Wells of Faison, Kevette Earl and Caren of Calypso and Raymond Mack and Renee of Beautancus; six grandchildren and spouses, Shannon and Jeffrey Jackson of Mount Olive, Everette Dixon Wells III "Trey" and Bridget of Mount Olive, Cheryl and Brad Warren of Faison, Nikki Ramoutar of Wilmington, Melissa Wells of Beautancus and Kaylee Wells of Raleigh; 10 great-grandchildren, David, Jonathan and Helyn Mae Jackson, Mary and Zadee Wells, Haygen, Garris and Spell Warren, Preston Ramoutar and Kytallia Samero; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Travis Clarke of Calypso; a brother, Richard Cashwell of Kenansville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Dixon "Shorty" Wells Sr.; parents, Raymond and Ruby Cashwell; brothers, W.C. Cashwell, J.R. Cashwell and Murray Cashwell; and a sister, Mary Lily Cashwell.
The family will receive friends at the Jackson Home in Mount Olive Sunday, Feb. 18, at 4.
Shirley Wells, known as Nana by her grand- and great-grandchildren and so many, was very special to all her family. Her silly jokes and infectious laughter will be greatly missed.
