GEORGE D. BOLLIN
June 1, 1952-Sept. 3, 2017
George Davis Bollin, 65, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center with his sister and brother by his side.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 7, from 10 until 10:45 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., on June 1, 1952, he was the son of George and Mary Bollin.
George was the first of the family children to learn how to play the accordion and took his accordion to Mexico on a mission trip with his first church, Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Hickman Mills, Mo. He liked working with the children and will be remembered for playing Smokey the Bear one year for VBS. George entered the military soon after graduation from Ruskin High School doing two tours in Vietnam and one tour of North Korea.
George spent his last years spending time with his mother, enjoying going back to church and finding a good church home. He had become accustomed to helping his brother take care of Mom whenever and however he could, always being Mom's first.
George is survived by his mother, Mary L. Bollin; one sister, Linda Murphy of Cato, N.Y.; and brothers, Dennis Bollin and wife, Carol of Spring Hill, Kan., and Paul Bollin of Pikeville.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Bollin; and his two children, Stephen and Michelle.

The Bollin family would like to thank the staff at Woodard's Care; and Ms. Lucy and Diane, for the great care that George received in his final years.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
