JOHN FRANKLIN "FRANK" TURNER
March 20, 1934-May 31, 2017
John Franklin Turner, 83, Newton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 31, 2017, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born March 20, 1934, in Fayetteville, N.C., he was the son of the late Willis Perry Turner and Zera Payne Turner.
The Rev. Turner was previously a Baptist minister for 53 years, serving North Carolina in the following churches, Bladen Union Baptist Church, Lumber Bridge Baptist Church, Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, Brown Baptist Church and Garner's Chapel Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lua Curry Turner of Newton; sons, John Franklin Turner Jr. and wife, Alison Stanford Turner, of Concord and Timothy Paul Turner and wife, Angela Lanier Turner, of Hickory; grandchildren, Hope Elizabeth Turner of Oregon, Caswell Lynn Turner and Autumn Faith Turner both of Concord and Caroline Rebecca Turner and Brandon Perry Turner both of Hickory.
A memorial service in celebration of John's life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Viewmont Baptist Church, with Dr. Earl Davis and Dr. Gary Threatt officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to North Carolina Baptist Assembly, 100 Caswell Beach Road, Oak Island, N.C., 28465.
