VIRGINIA MORRISON STEPHENS

Our most gracious and wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, called Virginia Morrison Stephens, his faithful, trusting and devoted servant, home to be with him forevermore Saturday, May 6, 2017.
Virginia, 94, a Harnett county native, was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Elizabeth Wood Morrison.
Virginia was a longtime member of Mount Ariel United Methodist Church, where she served God and her community in many capacities, including president of the United Methodist Women, member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher until the age of 90. She chaired numerous committees, and served in many leadership roles.
Virginia retired from the Department of Library Services, state of North Carolina, where she received many awards and recognition of her service, commitment and dedication.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Curtis W. Stephens Sr.; a sister, Shirley M. Smith; and three brothers, Kenneth C., Tommy R. and William C. Morrison.
A service of death and resurrection will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home chapel of Lillington, N.C., with the Rev. V. Martin Groover officiating. Interment will follow at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Virginia is survived by her son, Curtis William Stephens Jr. and daughter-in-law, Andrea B. Stephens, of Goldsboro; twin daughters, Loyce Stephens Di Pasquantonio and son-in-law, F.J. Di Pasquantonio, of Cary, N.C., and Joyce Stephens Latta Anastasiou and son-in-law, Alexander Anastasiou, of Sunset Beach, N.C.; six grandchildren, Valerie Linn, Karen Hagerman, Curtis W. Stephens III, Amy Di Pasquantonio Miller, Reginald S. Latta and Stephanie Latta Cartwright; and six great-grandchildren.
Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed greatly, and will always be remembered for her love of reading, love of beautiful flowers, vast knowledge of the Bible, unwavering faith and her never ending journey to know and to serve God.
Virginia lived a life epitomizing that of a truly devoted and dedicated Christian.
Arrangements are entrusted to O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and Crematory of Lillington.
