CATHERINE CONYERS

Catherine Jane "Kitty" Weaver Conyers, Rocky Mount, joined God's heavenly angels surrounded by her loving family Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at the age of 91.
She was born July 1, 1925, in Rocky Mount, N.C., daughter of the late Samuel Budzelious and Ellie Jane Daughtridge Weaver.
In addition to her parents, Kitty was preceded in death by her oldest son, Frederick "Ross" Conyers III; son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Maxwell; brothers, Frank, Guy, Sammy Neat, Roy, Cornel, Woodrow and Truman; and sisters, Geneva "Sissy," Agnes and Ernestine.
The youngest of 13 children, Kitty attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, and received a business degree from St. Mary's Junior College.
She was employed at Park View Hospital, where she was trained as a radiology technician.
The majority of her life was devoted to caring for her husband and five children.
She married the love of her life, Frederick Ross "Fred" Conyers Jr., Sept. 14, 1946.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, and was active in West Haven Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount.
She and Fred volunteered at Community Hospital gift shop, and managed the gift shop for several years prior to its closing.
A lady of strong faith, Kitty believed in the power of prayer.
She was an avid reader and an exceptional cook who, loved nothing better than preparing meals for her family, even if it meant cooking two or three holiday meals to work around the schedules of her loved ones.
Kitty leaves a large family blessed by her love, who will cherish her memory.
She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 70 proud years, Fred Conyers of the home.
Her daughters, Patricia Conyers "Trish" Maxwell of Rocky Mount, Vickie Conyers Pick and husband, John, of Thornton, Colo., and Joanne Conyers "Jo" Heidenreich and husband, Jim, of Goldsboro, and son, Richard Samuel "Rich" Conyers, of Liberty will remember her as a loving and supportive "Mama."
She was affectionately referred to as Grandma, Me-Maw and Nannie to her grandchildren, Austin Pick and wife, Shauna, of Lafayette, Colo., Jimmy Heidenreich and wife, Suzanne, of Charlotte, Ashlyn Monza and husband, Jesse, of Charlotte, Jeremy Conyers and wife, Hilary, of Peoria, Ill., Nolan Pick of Washington, D.C., Josh Heidenreich of Surfside Beach, S.C., and Joseph Conyers and wife, Betsy, of Gastonia, and to her great-grandchildren, Madalyn Faith, Kaelyn Grace and Josiah Ross Monza all of Charlotte and Wesley Ross and Ainsley Hayes Conyers of Peoria, Ill.
Also surviving are stepgrandchildren, Stuart Maxwell and wife, Louise, of Seattle, Wash., and Scott Maxwell and wife, Kim, of Pasadena, Calif., as well as former daughter-in-law, Cathy Campbell and husband, Scott, and their daughter, Kelsey, of Pawleys Island, S.C.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount, with the Rev. Sam Codington and the Rev. Dan Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
