SHIRLEY P. HOWELL
June 12, 1936-Jan. 11, 2017
Shirley Parrott Howell, 80, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.
Proud of her family heritage and country upbringing, Shirley was born June 12, 1936, in Lenoir County to the late Harvey Lee Parrott Sr. and Clemmie Sutton Parrott.
Her life revolved around her family, and nothing was better to Shirley than having everyone together. She took great pleasure in bragging to everyone about her family, and every day ended with Shirley praying for each one individually.
Shirley loved her Lord, and the happiness of her family was paramount to her. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Shirley enjoyed her trips to the beach with her family, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley worshiped and served her Lord at the "Church On The Rock."
Her family has many fond memories of her cooking, baking and being with her to watch planes come and go from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Shirley retired from Wachovia Bank, where she worked 30 years.
A service to celebrate and honor Shirley's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with Joy Howell and David Walston officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by three children, Edward Shane Howell and wife, Joy, Jeffrey Lee Howell and Karen Howell Newsome and husband, Chris; seven grandchildren, Kerri, Christy, Kelli, Courtney, Jennifer, Cole and Jacob; 13 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kristen, Alyssa, Chloe, Camden, Lauren, Olivia, Justus, Elle, Kenzie, Callen, Emily and Zoey; sister-in-law, Judy Parrott; and two nieces, Wendy Parrott Taylor and Crystal Parrott Wackerman.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Lee Parrott Jr.
