ALMA C. EDWARDS

Alma Craddock Edwards of Princeton passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Sampson County, on August 5, 1921, she was the oldest daughter of Vivian King Craddock and Harvey J. Craddock. She grew up in Sampson County and Wayne County on a farm. On Nov. 19, 1939, she married the love of her life, Theron (Pete) Edwards. He preceded her in death in 2001.
As members of the greatest generation Pete was sent to the Philippine Islands in WWII while Alma stayed home to care for their two children. That began the pattern of her life as a mother and helpmate to her husband. After the war, she and Pete became lifelong partners in farming. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, which she attended with family and friends as long as she lived. She and Pete enjoyed their years together working hard and traveling.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at noon, at Grace Baptist Church in Princeton. Burial will follow the service in the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Bill Joe Edwards and wife, Peggy of Four Oaks, N.C., three daughters, Barbara Edwards Eason, Susan Edwards Daughtry and husband, Delton of Princeton, N.C. and Kathyrn Edwards Pate and husband, Tommy of Goldsboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Ginger Eason, Theron Edwards II, Jim Eason and wife, Kathleen, Anna Daughtry Moraglia and husband, Michael, Jason Pate and wife, Kelly, Mary-Kathryn Pate Connor and husband, Jeff; great-grandchildren, Preston Eason, Madison Edwards, Nick Moraglia, Joe Moraglia, Jordan Connor, Pate Connor, Mary-Knowles Hixson, Tyler Eason, Thomas Pate, Andrew Pate and John Pate; and a sister, Muriel Craddock Pullin of Kenly and a special niece, Jackie Pullin King, also of Kenly.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Craddock Pittman and Helen Craddock, and a son-in-law, Jimmy Eason.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, from 10:30 a.m. until noon at Grace Baptist Church, Princeton.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests contributions be made to Grace Baptist Church.
