Wayne Cecil Allman, 91, Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Always Compassionate Family Care surrounded by his family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Family Life Center of New Hope Friends Church, followed by a service celebrating the ministry of Wayne in the sanctuary at 2 p.m., with Bill Garner and John Hoefer officiating. Interment will conclude the service at New Hope Friends Cemetery.
Wayne was born to Harold and Ruth Perry Allman in Haviland, Kan., Oct. 9, 1925. The family moved to Paonia, Colo., in 1928 and then to Friendswood, Texas, (where his parents were reared) in 1932.
He attended grade school and high school there. Collegiate and graduate work were accomplished at Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kan.; Bible College in Cleveland, Ohio; seminary in Kansas City, Mo.; and Northwestern University of Oklahoma in Alva, Okla.
July 9, 1946, he married Mary C. Steel in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, from which union were born two daughters, Cheryl Ruth and Marsha Kay.
Aug. 13, 2009, Wayne united in marriage with Ann Radford, who brought much joy and happiness to his life. Together they enjoyed life, and as his health declined, she was his loving caregiver.
Wayne was recorded a Friends minister in 1951, and pursued an active ministry as pastor in Tongonozie, Kan.; Alva, Okla.; Marshalltown, Iowa; and New Hope Friends in Goldsboro, N.C.
Between the last two pastorates, he was the superintendent of Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends for 11 years and associate secretary of Friends United Meeting of Friends for 11 years.
While serving as superintendent of Iowa Yearly Meeting, he with his family spent six weeks in Mexico serving Friends in the Ciudad Victoria area.
From 1990 to 1999, Wayne served on the board of trustees of Houston Graduate School of Theology, and was also the chairman of the board of advisors of HGST/NC for four years.
Retiring from the pastorate at New Hope Friends in October 1994, he authored a 222-page book about his maternal grandparents titled, "Pioneer Friends Preachers." A second edition of this book was published in 2001.
Previously, he had authored the book titled, "Experiencing Renewal Through Goals."
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his daughter, Marsha Kay McCaulley and husband, Randy, of Perry, Iowa; son-in-law, Michael Jackson; stepdaughter, Beth Smith and husband, Joe, of East Bend; stepson, Bradley Radford and wife, Beth, of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Harold Allman Jr. of Mauldin, S.C.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in heaven by his parents; his wife, Mary Catherine, Dec. 5, 2004; his daughter, Cheryl Ruth Jackson; his brother, Ralph Allman; and his sisters, Lois Collmann and Mary Ola Haines.
