JOHN WAYNE KEEL

John Wayne Keel, 74, Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016.
John was born in Wayne County Feb. 18, 1942, to the late Albert Earl Keel and Ethel Johnson Keel.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a ground radio communications superintendent. John retired in Jacksonville after serving the Air Force for 28 years.
He enjoyed square dancing and hanging out with his loyal friends at Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Jacksonville, where he frequented daily.
John suffered with COPD for five years and with related heart issues.
His friendly ways have touched many lives, and he was loved by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 26, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
John is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Keel-Sanabia of West Melbourne, Fla., and Laurel Ann Keel of West Melbourne, Fla.; adopted son, Albert John Keel of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Hunter Sanabia, Maggie Sanabia and Dustin Koenig.
He is also survived by his sisters, Nita Keel Jackson of Goldsboro and Ethel Mae Sisneros of Mount Jackson, Va., and brother, Elbert Earl Keel of Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kan., 66675.
