HAYWOOD BLACKBURN

Haywood Blackburn, 74, of Warsaw, died Tuesday.
He was born March 12, 1942. Mr. Blackburn served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He also retired after many years from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, working at Central Prison in Raleigh, at the Wayne County Correction Center in Goldsboro and at the Duplin County Correction Center in Kenansville.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 6, at 1 p.m., in Pinecrest Cemetery, Warsaw, N.C.
Mr. Blackburn was survived by his children, Victor Blackburn and wife, Angela of Summerfield, Amanda Herring and husband, Michael of Mount Olive, David Blackburn and wife, Angie of Rocky Point; six grandsons, Austin Richardson, Nicholas Richardson, Kaleb Hare, William Blackburn, Matthew Blackburn, Hayden Blackburn, and two granddaughters, Kristina Blackburn and Ashlee Blackburn; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Joe Warren of Salemburg and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Blackburn of Seven Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt Teachey Blackburn and Grace Kennedy Blackburn, older brother, William "Billy" Blackburn and grandson, Brandon Herring.
