BETSY B. ROSEMANN

March 9, 1961-May 2, 2016

Marian Elizabeth "Betsy" Barrett Rosemann passed away Monday at age 55. Born in the Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C., on March 9, 1961, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Hunley Barrett and the late Donald Wallace Barrett. She grew up in Laurinburg, N.C., and lived in Raleigh and Apex prior to moving to Goldsboro in 1991. Betsy graduated from Scotland High School in 1979 and went on to attend Wofford College. She married Everett Edwin Rosemann in 1986 and he preceded her in death in August of 2014.

Betsy was the Director of Travel and Tourism for the City of Goldsboro and worked passionately to advance the travel and tourism industry in Goldsboro and Wayne County. Betsy's smile lit up any room and she was an outgoing, friendly and charismatic person who cared deeply for her family, friends and co-workers.

Betsy was also a member of the Associations of Eastern North Carolina, N.C. Civil War Tourism Council, the Goldsborough Bridge Battlefield Association, N.C. Coast Host, N.C. Sports Association, N.C. Festivals and Events, and the N.C. Travel Industry Association.

A service to celebrate Betsy's life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Goldsboro Event Center, 1501 S. Slocumb Street in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Nancy Willard officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Goldsboro Event Center. A private burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Laurinburg.

In addition to her mother, Betsy is survived by two daughters, Emily Bryte Rosemann Davis and her husband, Danny Davis and Amanda Joyce Rosemann; two brothers, Jim Barrett and his wife, Sharon Tracey Barrett and Dan Barrett and his wife, Kathleen Anderson Barrett; and her three nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her love of her family and friends, Betsy had a great love for animals. Animals of every kind flocked to her for love and compassionate care. For this reason, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 104 S. Center Street, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home is serving the family and online remembrances may be directed to www.shumate-faulk.com
