DOROTHY H. LANIER

April 6, 1934-Feb. 20, 2016

Dorothy Henderson Lanier, resident of the Sleepy Creek area of Dudley, passed away in her sleep during the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 20, at her home.

She was retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was an analytic clerk in medical records.

She was a native of the Chinquapin area, and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church there.

Mrs. Lanier was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Ella Sholar Henderson, the widow of William E. Lanier and mother of the late Steve Lanier and Jo Lanier Burch.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ranny E. and Anita Lanier with whom she lived; daughter-in-law, Debbie Lanier of Goldsboro; a sister, Hilda Bryant of Rose Hill; grandchildren, William Paul "Bo" Bryan, Melissa "Mitzy" Bryan, Courtney King and husband, Andy, Ashley Lanier, Amber Lanier, Taylor Braswell, Trey Braswell and wife, Whitney, and Abbie Lanier; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering for fellowship and reminiscing about Mrs. Dorothy will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Community Life Center at Dudley Christian Church.

It is requested that, instead of flowers, memorial gifts be made to one's charity of choice.
