Irene Davis Sutton, 96, formerly of Seven Springs, went to be with her Lord and savior Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Homegoing services will be held Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Seven Springs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton was a native of Wayne County, born April 21, 1919, to the late Benjamin and Emma Wooten Davis.
She was the oldest living member of Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as a mother.
She is survived by one son, Ed Cleo Sutton and wife, Doris, of Wilson; three daughters, Deborah Robinson and husband, Ray, Phyllis McNeill and Joannie Faison all of Goldsboro; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by husband, Cleo Sutton; two daughters, Emma Jane Lewis and Kathryn Ann Bailey; four infant children; son-in-law, Preston McNeill; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m., at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends other times at 3605 Central Heights Road in Goldsboro.
