David Henry Whitman, known to many as simply "The Apple Man," passed away unexpectedly Sunday night, Dec. 27, at Genesis Care Center at the remarkable age of 95. He now joins his beloved wife, Fannie Byrd Whitman, and other family members in God's heavenly kingdom.
Mr. Whitman, a resident of Faison, had been a longtime produce and fruit salesman.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gail Miller and Jimmy Miller, of Faison; two grandchildren, Jamie Gail Grady and husband, Scott, of Mount Olive and Michael Miller and wife, Carol, of Kennesaw, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Emily, Rachel, Katie, Hannah and David Miller all of Kennesaw.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitman will be Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, officiated by the Rev. Gene Hales and the Rev. Paul Rose, with interment following in Faison Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home during the hour before the service Wednesday, and at other times, at the Miller residence, 2029 N.C. 403 West, Faison, N.C.
