ELFRIEDE KEIM DAWSON

Elfriede Keim Dawson, 80, of Walnut Cove, died peacefully Saturday morning, Oct. 3, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Wilhelm and Aenne Pelz Keim. Elfrieide was retired from Lynnette's as a seamstress. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Having been a military wife, she and her husband lived in many places.
Along with her husband, they owned and operated several restaurants in Goldsboro, N.C. They also owned their own shrimping business. Elfriede loved to go boating, especially deep sea fishing. She loved living in this area and being able to tour all the local wineries.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. at Burroughs Chapel, with inurnment to follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, Walkertown, N.C.
In addition to her parents, Elfriede was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Dawson Jr.
She is survived by three children, Gerald Dawson and wife, Charleen of Beaufort, S.C., Edwina D. Spong and husband, Robert of Walnut Cove, and Linda Dawson-Levy and husband, Gary of Tobaccoville; five grandchildren, Hollie, Kyle, Erika, Lucas and Emily; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at her home.

The family wish to express their sincerest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Surgical ICU for their compassion and care that was shown to our mother.
