Davey Gray Harris, 59, went to be with his Heavenly Father early Sunday morning, July 26, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
A service to celebrate Davey's life will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Gateway Community Church, 401 W. Main St., Pikeville, with burial following at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
Davey was born in Wayne County on Sept. 23, 1955, to Willie G. and Geraldine Moore Harris. He was a member of Gateway Community Church where he was the "Sound Engineer" and "Church Hugger."
Davey was a avid Nascar fan, devoted Starbucks customer and loved his "baby," which happened to be his Z06 black corvette. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Davey leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Debra Harris; his parents, Willie G. and Geraldine Harris of Snow Hill; his three daughters, Andrea Burnette and husband, Stephen of Rosewood, Nicole Cummins and husband, Kendell of Goldsboro and Amber Harris of Las Vegas; his brother, Willie G. Harris Jr. of Clayton; his sister, Becky Harris Dunn and husband, James of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Teresia, Keegan and Avery Burnette; Lane and Jesse Fitzsimmons and Elizabeth and Olivia Cummins, and his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Peggy Binch of Mobile, Ala.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence.
