EDWARD LEE CRUMPLER

Edward Lee Crumpler, 69, Wilmington, N.C., passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington.
He was born in Lancaster, S.C., Oct. 3, 1945, son of the late Elbert Norwood Crumpler and Dorothy Sink Crumpler.
Mr. Crumpler retired from JCPenney after 35 years of service.
He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and had served in the Army National Guard.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Cherry Bland Crumpler; children, Jennifer Leigh Galloway and husband, John, of Marietta, Ga., Dr. Edward Lee Crumpler Jr. and girlfriend, Erica Cave, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Katherine Crumpler of Wilmington; grandchildren, Parker Galloway, Jensen Galloway, Caroline Galloway, Braydon Caldwell and Wyatt Cave; and brothers, David Crumpler and wife, Barbara, and Jim Crumpler.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 411 Market St., Wilmington, with Dr. Jim Everette officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Esmond Anderson, Rudy Cobb, Jim Currin, Jim Everette, Lawton Jones, Paul Peterson, Don Slawter, Josh Rammel, Tom Wallace and Gary Wilcox.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
Memorial gifts may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Lower Cape Fear Hospice or First Baptist Church of Wilmington.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Neil Musselwhite and staff and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice staff for their excellent care.
