ANN WILBURN FRICK
April 19, 1923-May 7, 2015
Ann Wilburn Frick, 92, Harrisonburg, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. She was a resident of Park Gables at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Mrs. Frick was born in Altavista, Va., April 19, 1923, to the late Wirt and Homie Virginia DeJarnette Wilburn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Samuel Frick, who died Dec. 2, 2005; her eldest son, Robert Samuel Frick Jr.; three brothers, Stafford Ellis Wilburn, Wirt Eldridge Wilburn and Joseph William Wilburn; and two sisters, Virginia Frances Wilburn and Mary Estelle Wilburn Baker.
Mrs. Frick is survived by two children, Ann Wilburn Frick Holtzman and husband, William, and a son, William Walter Frick; one granddaughter, Melanie Ann Hepner; three grandsons, Robert Samuel Frick III and wife, Irene, Justin Christopher Hepner and wife, Tamsin, and William Larry Frick and wife, Lynn; five great-grandchildren, Robert Samuel Frick IV, Anna Elizabeth Frick, Elizabeth Ann Hepner, Katherine Rose Hepner and Victoria May Hepner; two stepgrandchildren, Jill Holtzman Vogel and husband, Alex, and William Todd Holtzman and wife, Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Frick attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va., the School of Medical Technologists in Harrisburg, Pa., and the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
For most of her life, she enjoyed a rewarding teaching career for children with specific learning disabilities at a private day school in Potomac, Md.
Mrs. Frick was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.
She had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 65 years, transferring her membership to the Massanutten chapter in Harrisonburg in 2003.
Her personal interests included reading, golfing, bridge, genealogy and family.
A memorial service will be held at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, 281 E. Market St., Harrisonburg, Va., at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, with pastor Bob Humphrey and pastor Brett Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Woodbine Cemetery.
